Background to GameConcepts


Gordon Crompton's background started as did his father's, Jim Crompton as an engineer, having completed a full engineer apprenticeship as a tool maker in 1976, went on to join the Crompton's family business.

In 1982, at the ripe old age of 27, Gordon took over as the Managing Director of Cromptons Leisure Machines till 2001. Gordon Crompton led the company from a modest £1m to £17m, turning and developing Cromptons into a truly international company.

In those 19 years, Gordon Crompton was fully responsible for product development, starting in 1982 with Silver Ski's range of products ......... adding full integrating coin changers to coin pushers ......... In mid to late 80's introduced the Rock and Roll range of pushers.

The 90's saw the introduction of the very first Redemption Games from the USA, Doyles Basket Ball, Bob's Space Racer, Whac A Mole, followed by the ICE range of redemption games including the world renowned Cyclone. These games put redemption on the map in the UK for the first time. "Ticket payout Games were here to stay". During the early 90's the market place was looking for exciting wide play field pusher games. Cromptons delivered the first Centre Piece with a dynamic feature in 1992. The very best Centre Piece Pusher ever made "Disco Fever" using GRP cabinets, which changed the form and look of the Centre Piece Coin Pusher and it was at this time that Ben Wilson joined the team, vastly improving the Cabinet design and graphics.

Gordon Crompton continued to add Features to the Pusher Range Splash Box, Dice and Roulette Wheels all advanced the product and continued to open new markets and push Cromptons to be No.1 for Pushers in the world.

Luxor hit the market place mid 90's creating a phenomenal success for a non-pusher game, breaking all cash box records for a 4 player game made to date. Unique design Pyramid cabinet with a rotating playfield and features would draw players to the game.

Other products produced during this successful period in the 90's included UK manufactured Redemption Games, Diggers Prize, Hi Ball Belt Games which sold to worldwide Customers, Chucke Cheese, Dave & Busters, Toms World.

Game Concepts to Date

Gordon Crompton and Ben Wilson (who was very much a part of the successful look of the product designs during the 90's) teamed up to continue developing Game Concepts .... For the Games Industry, bringing a distinct style both in game, contents and design.

Game Concepts is currently designing new games for the Amusement and Gaming Industry. The very first games have been prototyped and are being site tested this season for the Preview 2007 at Novotel and ATEI in January.

Game Concepts will exclusivley design and market its products to the industry and the manufacture of the products will be concentrated within Harry Levy Contractors Ltd facilities in Kent, with the added value of key ex Crompton personnel controlling overall quality and finish to a very high standard. Full product support will also be extended from Harry Levy Contractors facilities to ensure full customer satisfaction.
